Wireless Communications and Sensing – Topic Page

Research Overview

NYU Wireless researchers pioneered research in the area of millimeter wave communications that were central to development of the recently-deployed 5G wireless systems.  Today, our researchers are conducting fundamental propagation measurements, channel modeling, and system design for new spectrum above 100 GHz as well as the upper mid-band (from 7 to 24 GHz).  Our research includes beamforming, MIMO processing, energy efficient architectures, and new forms of spectrum sharing that can enable future networks with greater robustness, coverage, capacity, and lower energy consumption and cost. High frequency, multi-antenna wireless signals also provide new sensing capabilities and our research is developing integrated sensing and communication.
