Postdoctoral Opportunities with NYU Wireless

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is home to NYU Wireless, a leading center of excellence in wireless communications. NYU Wireless, with its world class industrial affiliates program and extensive research expertise in wireless communications, spearheaded by Professor Theodore Rappaport, is partnering with one of the world’s largest professional engineering organizations to create unique research and development offerings for the wireless communications industry. In fulfillment of this mission, NYU is seeking to hire two (2) talented, motivated and energetic wireless communications Postdoctoral Associates to join an exciting project to commercialize next generation wireless data and analytics.

Position #1: Radio Frequency (RF) Propagation Channel Researcher to lead efforts in RF propagation measurements and data processing

The RF Propagation Channel Researcher will conduct, manage and oversee RF propagation measurements, channel modeling, data normalization, analysis and simulation working with Professors Theodore S. Rappaport and Daniel Abraham in the NYU WIRELESS center, and NYU’s Technology and Opportunity Ventures office. Specific duties are to plan, manage and carry out extensive and accurate channel measurements in emerging wireless bands; procure and calibrate equipment, FCC licenses, coordinate measurements, and lead a team of students to carry out measurement campaigns, as well as arrange for all logistics for the measurement campaigns. Process data and document all measurements procedures, create raw normalized database sets and statistical and site-specific channel models based on empirical data, analyze and explore new methods for characterizing wireless channels, while leading a team of graduate and undergraduate students in all of the above activities, publish results in peer reviewed literature, present data and papers in IEEE and industry/3GPP standard bodies, and provide data in specified data formats to our partner.

Position #2: RF Channel Simulation and Data Analytics Researcher to lead efforts in creating a state-of-art channel simulator

The Channel Simulation and Data Analytics Researcher will plan, manage, oversee and carry out extensive coding and data processing to implement existing data sets and channel modeling simulators in Python, and to build AI-based software tools to create new propagation prediction software, working with Professors Theodore S. Rappaport and Daniel Abraham in the NYU WIRELESS center, and NYU’s Technology and Opportunity Ventures office. Implement statistical and site specific and channel models based on past and future empirical databases. Implement AI and ML techniques to enhance and improve the creation of statistical and site-specific propagation simulators. Coordinate and lead data science activities related to channel measurements and channel modeling, while leading a team of graduate and undergraduate students in all of the above activities, publish results in peer reviewed literature, present data and papers in IEEE and industry/3GPP standard bodies, and provide work products to our partner.
