Historic FCC Spectrum Frontiers Proposal Passed
In a unanimous decision, the FCC has just passed the Spectrum Frontiers proposal, opening up vast millimeter wave spectrum for 5G.
“Carriers and entrepreneurs alike now have a true wireless fiber opportunity for fixed and mobile,” said Ted Rappaport, Founding Director of NYU WIRELESS. “Our work at NYU WIRELESS has proven both the physics and the potential of 5G.”
The FCC is building off of a successful spectrum policy framework to make new licensed, unlicensed, and shared spectrum available for 5G.
“This is an historic moment, a turning point, as the Renaissance of wireless begins,” remarked Prof. Rappaport.
