NYU WIRELESS Welcomes Post-Doctoral Fellow Marco Mezzavilla
NYU WIRELESS is pleased to welcome Dr. Marco Mezzavilla, a new post-doctoral fellow who joined the center in July. Marco brings extensive UHF/microwave wireless communications knowledge to NYU WIRELESS, having made contributions to 3GPP standards activities while working with Qualcomm. Marco received his Ph.D. in Information Engineering from the University of Padova in 2014, specializing in network architecture to enable wireless communication systems with heterogeneous wireless architecture that supports access. His standardization work has focused on OFDMA radio access (LTE and LTE-A).
During his Ph.D. experience, Marco worked on various research projects with the EU, such as CARMEN (delivering carrier grade services over wireless mesh networks), MEDIEVAL (multimedia transport for mobile video applications), and SAPHYRE (sharing physical resources – mechanisms and implementation for wireless networks). In his short time at NYU, Marco has already taken a leading role in driving our mmWave research projects that were approved by the NYU WIRELESS Industrial Affiliates board. He is leading the weekly meetings with current students of the many faculties to discuss and review research progress as he pursues his own interests in mmWave MAC and PHY. Welcome, Marco!
