High Speed Public Wi-Fi Coming to NYC
New York City has started installing free Wi-Fi stations known as LinkNYC as part of Mayor de Blasio’s plan for narrowing the digital divide in New York City.
“It’s incredibly ambitious,” says Sundeep Rangan, director of NYU WIRELESS. “There have been other municipal Wi-Fi but they are not on this scale and also not using this latest state of the art technology.”
The internet speed at these kiosks will be 20 to 50 times faster than the broadband in most homes and just as secure.
