Wireless Networks, Optimization, & Resource Allocation

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at NYU Wireless, and a Visiting Postdoctoral Researcher with H. Vincent Poor at Princeton. I obtained my PhD at Rice University working with Dr. Behnaam Aazhang. My PhD was supported by a Rice ECE Fellowship, a Texas Instruments Fellowship, and a research project with Huawei. I obtained my M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University, and a B.S. in Engineering Physics (with honors) from Tec de Monterrey.

My research has been focused on finding the optimal operation of diverse wireless networks, then creating and evaluating practical strategies. I have worked on service centric networks and millimeter-wave networks. In my mind, future networks should not simply strive to just offer higher data rates, but rather focus on providing services efficiently and effectively. I'm passionate about research, learning, and mentoring. My CV.

More About Me

I enjoy helping those around me! I have had a leading role in organizing an international symposium, Screech (Rice's first-ever graduate elevator pitch competition), a graduate mentoring program, and many more events. In 2015 I got recognized by the SHPE Rice Chapter for my participation and support. I've had a leadership role in the following organizations:

  • SHPE Rice Chapter
  • Rice Center for Engineering Leadership
  • ECE Graduate Mentor Committee
  • Rice Graduate Housing Resident Assistant
  • Rice GSA Representative
  • ITESM Physics Student Association President
  • Rice University Graduate Studies Ambassador
  • Recruitment Chair for Rice Graduate Studies

My active group involvement and proactive attitude have allowed me to have the honor of receiving the following awards:
  • Rice GSA Robert Lowry Patten Award
  • Rice ECE Best Presenter Award
  • Rice ECE Distinguished Graduate Service Award
  • Screech Best in COMP/CAAM/ELEC Department
  • SHPE Rice Recognition Award
  • Texas Instruments Fellowship
  • Tec de Monterrey Student Leadership Award

I have had the opportunity to learn something about the art of teaching. I obtained a Teaching Certificate from Rice Center for Teaching Excellence in 2013. At some point in time I have taught the following courses:
  • ELEC 533 Introduction to Random Processes
  • ELEC 430 Digital Communications
  • ELEC 241 Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering I
  • Laboratorio de Fisica I
  • Laboratorio de Fisica II
  • Laboratorio de Electricidad y Magnetismo

Outside of school, I have done internships at:
  • Prolec-GE: Research & Development Department
  • BP plc: Operation Critical Telecommunications Group
  • BP plc: Office of the Chief Technology Officer (now Digital Innovation Organization)

Outside of school and work, I have volunteered at:
Other fun stuff about me: I am fluent in English, Spanish, and French. Hopefully someday I will learn a fourth language, but so far I only have 1 year of Chinese. To relax I enjoy working out (BP PR + DL PR + Sq PR > 800lbs), running (23m 5k PR), reading, and drawing. In 2014 I decided my first-ever hiking and camping experience should be at Machu Picchu.
